If the rectifier fails, the power generated by the alternator becomes useless and your electrical systems will start failing. These pulleys included the alternator, the AC compressor, and the pump. The belt is made from toughened rubber, and it's designed for hard-wearing. The belt takes a lot of wear as it works, as it moves continuously when your engine is running. The belt must be kept at a constant tension. If the belt becomes too loose or too tight, I'll suffer damage and could snap. A snapped alternator belt will cut off your car's electrical supply.
