The headlights are one of those car parts we don’t think about much until we suddenly notice there’s an issue. If you’ll pay attention to some of the following signs, though, you’ll know when to call your INFINITI dealership and order new headlights before they blow out entirely.

Time for New Headlights From Your INFINITI Dealership?

Is There Subtle Dimming?

Gradual dimming of headlights can be easy to overlook, as it occurs slowly over time. If you start to notice that your surroundings just don’t seem as brightly lit as they used to be during night drives, it may be a sign that your headlights are losing their original intensity and need replacing.

Noticing a Different Color?

Watch for inconsistencies in the color of the light emitted by your headlights. If one headlight starts to show a different color temperature compared to the other – for example, one appears whiter while the other is more yellowish – this could be an indication that the bulbs are aging unevenly and one is about to go. Since bulbs are often placed in pairs, if it’s time to replace one, it’s likely time to replace them both.

Unusual Challenges in Bad Conditions

You need your headlights most of all at night and in adverse weather conditions like rain, fog, or snow. If you notice that your headlights are not providing sufficient visibility or cutting through the weather conditions as effectively as before, it might be time for new ones.

Unexpected Burnouts

If your headlights burn out more suddenly than expected, it can be a sign of underlying electrical issues or that you don’t have great quality bulbs. Either way, get it checked out. Your dealership can tell you whether you just need better quality bulbs or if you have a deeper issue.

Headlight Lens Discoloration or Damage

Yellowing or fogging of the lens due to oxidation can drastically reduce the effectiveness of the headlights. In some cases, a simple restoration might suffice, but severe discoloration or damage often necessitates a complete headlight replacement.

High Beam Dependency

Your high beams are not for normal driving conditions after dark. If you’re constantly using them to compensate for poor visibility with your regular headlights, you need new lights. High beams are designed for specific situations, and they should not be a regular substitute for effective standard headlights.

Feedback from Your Regular Maintenance and Service Checks

If you have any doubts or concerns at all, then during routine maintenance or safety checks, seek feedback from our automotive professionals regarding your headlights. They can provide an expert assessment and let you know if your headlights are due for a replacement based on their condition and performance. They can also tell you what headlights will work well with your INFINITI if you’re looking to upgrade.
